On Sunday, May 2, 2021, submissions for Mythography I and Dante 2021 officially closed. They were two open calls that we care a lot about, aimed at producing photographic volumes that we will present at the end of October at the Trieste Photo Days festival.
Although the themes were not easy, many photographers accepted the challenge, and we are extremely satisfied with the response, both in terms of the quality of the photos received and in terms of numbers: the call on Dante saw 260 photographers submitting 2,000 photos and almost 180 portfolios, while for Mythography 172 photographers submitted 650 photos and 130 portfolios.
We’d like to thank all the authors who submitted their works from all the corners of the world! Now we enter the selection phase and we plan to announce the selected photographers of each project within a month.
The special guest of the Mythography book will be Francesco Cito, one of the greatest Italian photojournalists, while the introduction will be by Enrico Medda, Professor of Greek Literature at the University of Pisa.
The volume Dante 2021 will instead contain an introduction by Piero Boitani, Professor Emeritus of Comparative Literature at Sapienza University of Rome, member of the Accademia dei Lincei, Fellow of the British Academy and of the Medieval Academy of America. The best photos from the book will also be exhibited in a group exhibition at the Territory Museum of San Daniele del Friuli (UD), as part of the Photo Days Tour, a setting of events taking place during the Trieste Photo Days festival.
And the free open calls aren’t over yet! Stay tuned!
