The Canticle of the Creatures — Now Available for Pre-Order!
The Canticle of the Creatures is a unique photographic volume inspired by Saint Francis of Assisi’s hymn to life and nature, the result of a prestigious international open call curated by Trieste Photo Days in collaboration with the Order of Friars Minor, the OFM Fraternitas Foundation, the Faculty of Philosophy of the Pontifical Antonianum University, the GPIC Friars Minor of Italy and Albania, and the Municipality of Assisi.
The Canticle of the Creatures offers a visual and spiritual journey through the eyes of photographers from around the world, invited to reinterpret — with contemporary sensitivity — the celebrated text composed eight centuries ago and considered the first poetic work in Italian literature.

The selected photographs go beyond a simple celebration of nature. They invite us to rediscover our deep connection with every element of creation: its beauty, its virtues, and also its wounds. Between harmony and contradiction, contemplation and protest, the images form a visual chorus that questions our place in the world and the often-forgotten bond between human beings and nature.
A selection of the works featured in the volume will also be exhibited at the Palazzo Frumentario in Assisi from September 1st — the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation — to September 21st, 2025, and at the 12th edition of Trieste Photo Days – International Photography Festival (October 24–26), during which the official book launch and the award ceremony for the best photographs will take place.
