A black-and-white journey, rugged and nocturnal, through Poland, balancing memory and present. Domenicali sets out in search of the scars of the twentieth century—occupation, the Holocaust, Soviet rule—but is captivated by the solemnity of the landscapes, the warmth of encounters, and the silent interiors of cities and villages. From the "green island/green territory" of a rapidly transforming country to intimate human figures and winter scenes, the story allows contradictions and tenderness to coexist. The photographs were taken in the winters of 2008 and 2023; the volume opens with a reflection by Antonio Tabucchi and an introductory text by Denis Curti.
