Susan Meiselas is a New York-based documentary photographer. She is the author of important projects such as Carnival Strippers (1976), Nicaragua (1981), Kurdistan: In the Shadow of History (1997), Pandora’s Box (2001), Encounters with the Dani (2003), Prince Street Girls (2016) , A Room Of Their Own (2017) and Tar Beach (2020).

Meiselas is known for her work as a documentary filmmaker focused on human rights issues in Latin America. Her photographs are included in international collections. In 1992 she was named MacArthur Fellow, she received a Guggenheim Scholarship (2015) and, more recently, the Deutsche Börse Photography Foundation Prize (2019) and the first Women in Motion Award from Kering and the Rencontres d ‘Arles. Mediations, a survey exhibition of his work from the 1970s to the present was recently exhibited at the Fundació Antoni Tàpies, the National Gallery of Jeu de Paume in Paris, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and the Instituto Moreira Salles in San Paolo, and is currently on display at the Kunst Haus in Vienna. You have been president of the Magnum Foundation since 2007, with the aim of expanding diversity and creativity in documentary photography. Susan Meiselas is a special guest at Trieste Photo Days 2022 as a juror of the URBAN Photo Awards competition and as main author of the WOW – Worlds of Women project.
