Launched by dotART cultural association through its platform Exhibit Around, Chromantic was born as an ambitious collective tribute to Alex Webb, a pioneer of color photography able to range from urban photography to journalistic reportage.
A full-bodied project, one of a kind, which consists of a prestigious photographic volume and an international collective exhibition, presented here: photos strictly in color, which use light in an artistic and original way, giving life to the chromatic elements and transforming color into an authorial language able to tell contemporary reality.
169 authors from all over the world are involved, selected from over 430 who applied for the open call launched by Exhibit Around in December 2019, which collected over 4100 photos and 210 portfolios.
An extraordinary tribute to Alex Webb which reaches its peak in October 2020 during Trieste Photo Days Festival with the official presentation of the volume, in which the critic Sandro Parmiggiani collaborated, and of the collective exhibition in the “U. Veruda” with over 150 photos.
Alex Webb himself was supposed to attend the opening
along with Rebecca Norris Webb, his wife and creative partner.
The health emergency linked to Covid-19 unfortunately prevented the great American photographer from reaching Italy, the Chromantic exhibition instead presents itself to the viewer in all its originality.
