Registrations are officially open for the photographic Open Call for Mythography VI, the editorial series conceived by Exhibit Around APS and dotART and curated by Professor Enrico Medda, a specialist in Greek Literature at the University of Pisa.
Mythography was created to reinterpret Greco-Roman mythology through the lens of contemporary photographers, creating a dialogue between ancient imagination and modern sensibilities. This year’s edition focuses on two opposite yet complementary deities: Jupiter (Zeus), sovereign of Olympus, and Bacchus (Dionysus), god of wine, ecstasy, and transgression.
The Open Call invites photographers from around the world to submit single images, projects, or portfolios inspired by the themes of Mythography VI. Selected works will be included in a photographic volume and exhibited in a major international show during the 13th edition of Trieste Photo Days, scheduled for late October 2026.
The sixth volume of Mythography explores the creative tension between order and transgression, a duality embodied by two central figures of the Greco-Roman pantheon: Jupiter and Bacchus.
Jupiter/Zeus – As the supreme figure of Olympus, Jupiter embodies cosmic authority: he rules the sky, establishes balance, and sets boundaries. His presence conveys power, responsibility, and a constant interplay between strength and vulnerability. In contemporary photography, this energy lends itself to interpretations ranging from street photography and urban scenes, where structures, hierarchies, and power dynamics emerge, to the monumentality of landscapes and atmospheric light effects.

Bacchus/Dionysus – At the opposite extreme, yet in perfect resonance, stands Bacchus: god of wine, ecstasy, and transgression. His symbolism speaks of release, creative freedom, and transforming identities. In photography, this opens up dynamic and expressive interpretations: nightlife and performance, highly expressive portraits, and stories exploring fluidity, the body, color, and emotional intensity.

Together, these two deities represent the poles of a single reflection: the meeting of what orders and what subverts, between the need for a center and the desire to transcend it. It is within this tension that the imagery of Mythography VI is placed, transforming ancient myths into a lens for observing the present.
The selected works will be included in the new Mythography Vol. VI photographic volume, curated by Professor Enrico Medda. The book will be published in a limited edition and available for purchase online, allowing photographers to be part of an editorial collection with international reach.

In addition to publication, the top authors of the Open Call will have the chance to win exclusive prizes, including:

Works by the Top Author, Honorary Mentions, and other selected photographers will be exhibited in a historic venue in the heart of Trieste, at no cost to the artists, providing them with a prestigious international platform within the festival.
