Trieste is preparing to host a major photographic event: the “Urban Animals” exhibition, which will be set up at Sala Veruda, Passo Costanzi 2, from October 24 to November 9, 2025. The exhibition is part of the broader program of the international photography festival Trieste Photo Days, which will animate the city with exhibitions and events from October 24 to October 26, 2025.
URBAN ANIMALS is a photographic project that aims to explore the delicate balance between wildlife and urban spaces through contemporary photography. This initiative focuses on three key aspects—wild creatures, domestic companions, and adaptive species—and their extraordinary presence in our metropolitan environments.
“Urban Animals” promises a unique opportunity to explore the fascinating and often unexpected relationship between the animal world and the urban context through a series of engaging stories and images.
An honored guest will further enrich the project: Domenico De Dominicis, celebrated photojournalist and documentary photographer. De Dominicis, born in Rome in 1965, has increasingly turned his attention to documentary photography since 1998, realizing several personal projects. Since 2014, he has documented the serious consequences that marine pollution is causing on the economy and health of the artisanal fishing community in Guanabara Bay.
The works of Dario De Dominicis will be the protagonists of the exhibition that will celebrate “URBAN ANIMALS”, offering selected photographers the exceptional opportunity to exhibit alongside a master.
“Urban Animals” will offer a special opportunity to discover new points of view and be moved by the visual narratives that the project brings with it.
The event is organized by Exhibit Around APS, a Social Promotion Association that annually organizes various Open Calls for photographers from all over the world, with the aim of giving visibility to the art of photography. Participating photographers have the opportunity to exhibit their works in important exhibitions and to see them included in original books and volumes.
