We are pleased to announce the winners of the call Beyond Words. Poetic Explorations in the Soul of Giuseppe Ungaretti, launched by dotART and Exhibit Around APS to pay tribute to one of the greatest poets of the 20th century.
The call invited poets from around the world to engage with Ungaretti’s poetic universe — characterised by essential words, meaningful silences, and powerful symbolic visions.
A contest that inspired hundreds of original and profound interpretations.
After a careful selection process, here are the winners of the call:
The selected poems stand out for their ability to evoke deep emotions with minimal elements, echoing the emotional depth of Ungaretti’s poetry: essential visions, visual pauses, and inner landscapes.
The winners will take part in a major exhibition combining images and poetry, held during the 12th edition of Trieste Photo Days (24–26 October 2025), held at Sala Selva, where their poems will interact with photographs by Gianpaolo Arena. Words and images will merge in a shared visual-literary journey, creating a creative dialogue between photography and poetry.
The book will be enriched by texts by Angelo Floramo – scholar, historian, medievalist, and scientific advisor to the Guarneriana Library in San Daniele del Friuli – and will also include photographs by Gianpaolo Arena.
