Chromantic – Tribute to Alex Webb
A photographic tribute to the great Alex Webb, special guest of this project which focuses on colors and all their variations. An Open Call in view of a large project complete with dedicated volume and photographic exhibition.
Deadline 1st March 2020
Chromantic - Tribute to Alex Webb
Exhibit Around APS and dotART Cultural Association are launching an Open Call in tribute to Alex Webb in view of the homonymous project which sees the international photographer as a special guest.
The project
The project will be a great photographic tribute to Alex Webb, in the wake of the tribute to Martin Parr Short Street Stories of 2019.
The project will see the best candidate photos merge into a dedicated photographic volume and an exhibition , both presented during the international photography festival Trieste Photo Days 2020 in the presence of Alex Webb .
Who is it for?
To photographers from all over the world who are interested in submitting single photos , but also projects and portfolios .
The participating photographers will have the opportunity to become part of an important dedicated exhibition and a photographic book presented together with the special guest.
The theme
The Open Call is centered around the theme of colours. In fact, the candidate photos must strictly be in color , using light in an artistic and original way, giving life to the chromatic elements and transforming color into an authorial language capable of narrating contemporary reality.
The photos
The lesson to be inspired by is that of the New Yorker Alex Webb , a pioneer of color photography capable of ranging from urban photography to journalistic reportage. Each author is therefore free to instill his own stylistic code into the works, as well as to choose the type of photography that is most congenial to him (we prefer street photography , fine art and architectural photography , but in general we like to support the photography of quality).
We will have the honor of hosting one or more international photographers in the Chromantic project that we will announce soon (in 2019 the special guest of Short Street Stories was the great Nick Turpin , and this time too we will not disappoint you). Chromantic follows the success of Exhibit Around's latest projects : Short Street Stories (2019), Flowing City (2018) and Urban & Human Empathy (2017), which brought together hundreds of photographers from five continents.
HOW TO PARTICIPATE
The call is open to all and registration is free. To submit photos, simply register or access the Exhibit Around user area , select the Chromantic call and follow the procedure for Single Photos and/or Projects/Portfolios .
We will select the works that will be part of the dedicated photographic volume and photographic exhibition that will be presented in the presence of Alex Webb
Prizes
Following a precise curatorship work, Exhibit Around APS will select the best author and honorable mentions of the project.
The award event will be held on the occasion of the Trieste Photo Days international photography festival .
