“EA Cup 2024” – Photography Open Call full regulation

Open call

The Exhibit Around APS and dotART associations launch an open call on the occasion of the second tournament for EA Cup member photographers.

The Call is open to all Exhibit Around APS members, who will be able to participate in the competition for free.

Those who are not Exhibit Around members can join here and have access, in addition to reserved initiatives, to various advantages that can be consulted on this page.

Deadline

The Call is open from July 20 to July 31, 2024.

To submit your photo, simply log in or register in our user area at my.dotlogic.net, select the EA Cup 2024 open call and follow the upload procedure.

Theme and Style

The theme of the call is Less is More, or minimalism, and was proposed by Nurlan Tahirli, second place in the last edition of the tournament.

Below is the description of the theme kindly provided by Nurlan:

We are used to seeing multi-elements in a photo, complex compositions filling a scene. Mostly we tend to give as much as information possible. A composition needs to be balanced with elements and space– that’s what the rule says. However, a good photo is not always one that complies with the rules. In that manner, minimalism breaks some of them. And that “break” is beautiful. Such images create a soothing feeling while you look at them because of their simplicity and few elements and actually enhance the subject. Simplicity of background, and correctly applied negative space will create stunning images and results delightful to watch.

The tournament

This is a true direct elimination tournament. Members can participate for free by registering just one themed photo. The second edition of the EA CUP will be dedicated to minimalism.
The results of the competing photos will be visible at the end of each bracket voting period in the user area.

The final rounds will be played live during the Trieste Photo Days festival.

How to win

The competing photos will be voted by the participants themselves during the numerous elimination phases, and the best 4 will be awarded during the Trieste Photo Days festival.

In fact, it is possible to continue participating in the tournament as a voter, voting for the photos remaining in the competition with perseverance and photographic intuition. A group-based scoring system will determine the winner of the “Best Voter” award.
All winners will have their photos displayed for free during the international urban photography festival Trieste Photo Days 2024.

Registration for the competition is reserved for Exhibit Around APS members only. For further details on membership and packages, consult this page.

Participation in the tournament is completely free.

The winner, first place in the tournament, will be rewarded with:

• 1 photo published in the final catalog of Trieste Photo Days 2024

The second place in the tournament will be rewarded with:

• Choice of the theme for the next edition of the EA Cup

The tied third place finishers of the tournament will be rewarded with:

The best voter will be rewarded with:

• 2024 Members Tournament Medal

Guidelines

• Only single photos can be submitted, projects and portfolios are not permitted.
• We accept both color and black and white photos.
• Photos must not contain signatures, watermarks, watermarks or frames.

Images Technical Specifications

• Format .jpg
• Colour method RGB
• Individual files must be less than 9 MB each
• Minimum size smallest side: 2000 px / maximum size longest side: 6000 px
• The file name (filename.jpg) must not contain any special characters (accents, apostrophes, symbols, etc.)

Copyright

Each photographer retains the moral rights and intellectual property rights to his or her entries. Each author grants to the dotART and Exhibit Around APS associations, as well as to the art gallery Trart, the non-exclusive right to use the winning/selected images to promote/publicise the non-profit activities of the association, subject to official communication to the author (whose name will always be attributed to the work).
