Canticle of the Creatures – Celebrating 800 Years of Creation and Harmony

The Canticle of the Creatures is a photographic anthology inspired by Saint Francis of Assisi’s hymn, curated through an international call by Trieste Photo Days and key cultural and religious institutions. Reinterpreting what is considered the first poetic work in Italian literature, photographers from around the world offer a visual and spiritual journey that bridges ancient praise with modern sensibility. The selected works go beyond celebrating nature, inviting reflection on beauty, resilience, and wounds, while questioning humanity’s place within creation. This collective vision will be presented both in the published volume and in exhibitions at the Palazzo Frumentario in Assisi and the 12th edition of Trieste Photo Days, where the official launch and award ceremony will take place.
