Open call

The associations Exhibit Around APS and dotART, in collaboration with the Italian art gallery Trart, launch an open call for the new photographic projects Collectible Shots. When photography meets art galleries.

The Call is open to all Exhibit Around APS members, who will be able to participate for free.

Those who are not Exhibit Around members can join here and have access, in addition to reserved initiatives, to various advantages that can be consulted on this page.

Deadline

The Call is open from 7 June to 15 July 2024.

To submit your portfolio, simply log in or register in our user area at my.dotlogic.net, select the open call Collectible Shots and follow the procedure for uploading projects/portfolios.

Themes and Style

The theme is free, but portfolios resulting from well-defined visual and expressive research will be evaluated with particular attention.

The jury, composed of the curators Federica Luser and Giacomo Frullani, as well as the special guest photographer, will select the participant who demonstrates a strong artistic maturity and a skilled use of the photographic medium to express their ideas and emotions.
The works can be created with any photographic technique, be it digital, chemical or mixed, and can include pictorial interventions or installations.

Exhibition and inauguration

The works of the Best Author will be exhibited in the prestigious Spazio Trart art gallery, in Viale XX Settembre, in the heart of the city of Trieste, Italy.
During the exhibition, which will last from 24 October to 14 November 2024, the public will have the opportunity to purchase the works on display.

The exhibition Collectible Shots. When photography meets works of art, will be inaugurated on Thursday evening 24 October 2024 and will be the opening event of the XI Edition of Trieste Photo Days 2024 (24-27 October).

Photographic volumes

The photographs of the Best Author and the 5 Honorable Mentions will be part of the first exclusive volume dedicated to Members produced by Exhibit Around APS: the volume dedicated to the Collectible Shots project.

The photographs of the Best Author will also make up the exhibition catalog which will be produced by trart. Both publications will be presented on Thursday 24 October, during the inauguration of the exhibition.

Selections and fees

The open call is free for all Exhibit Around members.

The curators of the trart gallery Federica Luser and Giacomo Frullani, in collaboration with the special guest of the project, will choose the Best Author as well as the Honorable Mentions of the project.

The selected authors will be contacted by the end of August 2024.

Prizes

The Best Author of the project will be rewarded with (total value of €5,000):

Best Author

  • Free 3-night stay in Trieste on the occasion of the inauguration of the exhibition and the presentation of the book Collectible Shots. When photography meets art galleries as part of Trieste Photo Days 2024
  • Fine art print on certified museum paper of the selected works. Alternatively, the author will be given the opportunity to send/transport his photos by arriving in Trieste one day earlier.
  • Personalized author’s trophy, crafted by the famous Italian Venice Biennale artist Giorgio Celiberti
  • Digital certificate of selection
  • Invitation as a guest of honor to the signature dinner of the Trieste Photo Days 25 October 2024 and to the gala dinner of the URBAN Photo Awards on 26 October 2024
  • 1 copy of the exhibition catalog and 1 copy of the exclusive volume dedicated to the project
  • A percentage of the possible sale of the exhibited works (to be agreed with trart)
  • Sharing the author’s photo and biography on our social networks for visibility
  • The costs of logistics, organization, preparation of the exhibition and printing of the book and book, merchandising, visual communication and photographic reportages, which will be handled by Exhibit Around APS and the trart gallery

Exhibit Around APS and trart will have the right to retain 2 fine art printed photos (1 copy each). Unsold works will be delivered to the artist.

The Honorable Mentions of the project will be rewarded with (total value €500):

  • Author’s medal, crafted by the Italian Venice Biennale artist Giorgio Celiberti
  • Invitation as a guest of honor to the signature dinner of the Trieste Photo Days 25 October 2024
  • 1 copy of the exhibition catalog and 1 copy of the exclusive volume dedicated to the project
    Sharing photos and a short bio of the authors on our social media for visibility.

Guidelines

  • It is only possible to nominate projects/portfolios, single photos are not admitted.
  • Each project/portfolio must consist of a minimum of 3 photos and a maximum of 20 photos.
  • We accept both color and black and white photos.
  • Projects and portfolios may be accompanied by a short description, which Exhibit Around reserves the right to modify, edit and/or not publish. The author’s name will always be present.
  • Photos must not contain signatures, watermarks, watermarks or frames.
  • Please DO NOT upload the same photo multiple times to your portfolio.

Images Technical Specifications

  • Format .jpg
  • Colour method RGB
  • Individual files must be less than 9 MB each
  • Minimum size smallest side: 2000 px / maximum size longest side: 6000 px
  • The file name (filename.jpg) must not contain any special characters (accents, apostrophes, symbols, etc.)

Upload

Exhibit Around members can upload an increasingly greater number of projects/portfolios based on their membership level:

  • Photography Member: up to 1 portfolios
  • Photography Enthusiast: up to 2 portfolios
  • Photography Master: up to 3 portfolios
  • Photography LEGEND: up to 5 portfolios

Copyright

Each photographer retains the moral rights and intellectual property rights to his or her entries. Each author grants to the dotART and Exhibit Around APS associations, as well as to the art gallery Trart, the non-exclusive right to use the winning/selected images to promote/publicise the non-profit activities of the association, subject to official communication to the author (whose name will always be attributed to the work).
