A little over a month from International Women's Day, the dotART cultural association, promoter of the Trieste Photo Days international festival, is launching an open call via the Exhibit Around platform for the new WOW: Worlds of Women project.
WOW will be presented in the international setting of the Trieste Photo Days festival in the presence of Susan Meiselas , an American documentary filmmaker and one of the most influential photographers in the world. For the occasion, conferences and meetings dedicated to the themes of the project will be organised. The best photos will then be included in the new photographic book together with those of Susan Meiselas and exhibited in two group exhibitions .
To photographers from all over the world interested in submitting single photos , but also projects and portfolios , focused on women and the female universe.
The participating photographers will have the opportunity to become part of an important project presented during the Trieste Photo Days international festival.
The ambition is to create a project with a heterogeneous style that puts women at the center and highlights the female figure . The aim is to
highlight motherhood , gender disparity , social struggles , non - conforming femininity , work , culture and art .
Each author will be able to address the theme through the photographic genre he feels closest to: portrait, street photography, social reportage, documentary photography, fashion photography or fine-art.
The photographic works must be able to cast an original look at the lives of women in the four corners of the world.
WOW: Worlds of Women follows the success of the successful Exhibit Around tribute projects , in which hundreds of photographers from five continents participate every year. After the tributes to Martin Parr ( Short Street Stories , 2019), Alex Webb ( Chromantic , 2020) and street photography ( Tales of the Unwritten , 2021), 2022 will be a year dedicated to women !
The call is open to all and registration is free. To submit photos, simply register or access the Exhibit Around user area , select the WOW call and follow the procedure for Single Photos and/or Projects/Portfolios .
We will select the works that will be part of the prestigious paper volume which will be presented during the Trieste Photo Days 2022 festival . A selection of photos and/or projects will become part of the festival catalogue .
The project includes a series of conferences , meetings and events, aimed at promoting and presenting the book, the exhibition and the topics addressed.
Following a precise curatorship, Exhibit Around will choose the best author and honorable mentions from the selected photos .
Both will be invited as guests of honor to the Photographers' Dinner as part of the international photography festival Trieste Photo Days and will receive a free copy of the volume WOW .
