“Overshoot” – Rules

Open Call

DOTLOGIC Società Cooperativa Impresa Sociale Impresa Culturale e Creativa, in collaboration with Exhibit Around APS, dotART Cultural Association and Trieste Photo Days, launches its first Open Call, “Overshoot”, dedicated to climate change.

The Call is open to photographers worldwide and offers the opportunity to exhibit at Magazzino 26 in Trieste alongside the work of Mark Power and Christopher Morris, the international guest artists of Trieste Photo Days 2026, and to be included in the project catalogue.

The theme of the call responds to Goal 13 of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, dedicated to combating climate change: a social commitment that DOTLOGIC pursues through contemporary photography, from the local to the global.

Submissions must be made via my.dotlogic.net, with an entry fee of €20. The number of eligible photographs varies depending on membership level.

Deadline

The Call is open from 1 August 2026 to 31 August 2026.

To submit your work you must:

• Register or log in to the online submission platform at my.dotlogic.net
• Select the Overshoot open call
• Read the project description, the rules and the technical submission guidelines
• Follow the step-by-step upload procedure for single photos
• Wait for the confirmation email from DOTLOGIC to verify that your submission was received correctly

 Selected Authors will be contacted by the DOTLOGIC staff by the end of September.

Themes and style

The title refers to the crossing of the 1.5°C threshold of global average temperature rise above pre-industrial levels, the limit that the 2015 international climate agreement committed to pursuing. In 2024, for the first time, a full year passed that threshold. Every fraction of a degree beyond that limit brings consequences that are more severe and less reversible for ecosystems and communities worldwide.

The challenge for participating photographers is to tell the story of climate change through a single image. The camera becomes a witness to what happens when ecological balance breaks down, capturing in a single frame the impact of a phenomenon that crosses landscapes, communities, and daily lives. Key themes include: transforming landscapes, communities adapting or resisting, work and daily routines under extreme temperatures, and the interplay between scientific data and lived experience.

The selected works will form a collective narrative where global perspectives come together to reflect the worldwide scale of an issue experienced locally by all.

Participation is open to all photographic genres and techniques: reportage, portraiture, landscape, documentary, street photography, creative photography, or fine art.

This open call accepts single photographs only; there are no categories for projects or portfolios. Participants are invited to submit images that demonstrate a clear, original visual vision capable of exploring the complexity of the theme in depth.

Exhibition and opening

The selected photographs, up to 20, will be featured in a group exhibition presented during the 13th edition of the Trieste Photo Days – International Photography Festival (late October 2026).

Exhibition venue: Magazzino 26, Porto Vecchio, Trieste.
Exhibition dates: from 23 October to 8 November 2026.

The exhibition will be presented alongside the work of Mark Power and Christopher Morris, the international guest artists of Trieste Photo Days 2026, with photographers and audiences from all over the world.

Following the main exhibition, selected works may also be featured in future exhibitions curated by Exhibit Around.

Catalogue

Only Selected Authors will be included in the official Magazzino 26 catalogue, which will be launched during the 13th edition of the Trieste Photo Days – International Photography Festival (late October 2026): the same catalogue that presents the work of Mark Power and Christopher Morris.

Exhibition production

Selected Authors benefit from the experience of the organisers, who take care of the production of the exhibition.

The production phases include:

• Project supervision and graphic design
• Image editing for pre-press
• High-definition photographic printing on sandwich panels
• Photographic reportage
• Online and social media promotion

Participation and costs

Participation in the open call is managed by DOTLOGIC Società Cooperativa Impresa Sociale Impresa Culturale e Creativa, with an entry fee of €20.

The Call is open to photographers worldwide: both non-members and members of the DOTLOGIC network may take part. The number of photographs that can be submitted depends on the subscription level.

DOTLOGIC is a social enterprise, not for profit, and the realization of these open calls is made possible through the support of its members.

The number of photographs that can be submitted increases with the subscription level:

• Non-members: 1 photo
• Photography Friend PLUS: 1 photo
• Photography Member: 3 photos
• Photography Enthusiast: 6 photos
• Photography Master: 12 photos
• Photography LEGEND: 25 photos

Time limit for photos

There is no specific time limit for when the photos were taken. However, we encourage photographers to submit works that speak to the present state of a changing climate, from the landscapes that are transforming to the communities that adapt or resist.

“Editor’s Picks” Selection

Submitted photographs may be selected as “Editor’s Picks” and published for inspirational or promotional purposes, always citing the author and the title of the work.

Important: Being featured as an “Editor’s Pick” does not guarantee final selection for the call or the exhibition. The final selection will be made exclusively by the jury.

Copyright

Organisers: DOTLOGIC Società Cooperativa Impresa Sociale Impresa Culturale e Creativa, Exhibit Around APS, dotART Cultural Association, Trieste Photo Days, with the support of the Regional Council of Friuli Venezia Giulia.

Each participating author declares to own all rights to the photographs submitted for the contest and guarantees that these do not infringe in any way the copyright or other rights of third parties, exempting the Organisers from any liability relating to complaints or legal actions connected to the use of the photographs, including copyright infringement, unauthorized use of trademarks, infringement of privacy or publicity rights, defamation, violations of moral rights or other personal or property rights, in any jurisdiction.

Each author retains the moral and intellectual property rights on the works submitted.

Each author also grants the Organisers the non-exclusive right to use the winning or selected images for the promotion and advertising of the associations’ non-profit activities, in traditional print media (catalogues, trade magazines, etc.), subject to official communication to the author (whose name will always be attributed to the work). In the event of use of the author’s work on online graphics, social networks, newsletters and other web communication media, the Organisers undertake with the best professional diligence to cite/tag the author. We apologize in advance in case of oversights and errors and ask you to report missing attributions to info@exhibitaround.com so that we can provide timely assistance.

ACCEPTANCE OF THE REGULATIONS

By registering for the competition, each participant accepts without reservations these Regulations and assumes full responsibility for the images sent, releasing the Organisers from any dispute related to the photographs submitted by the author to the contest. The author also accepts that his/her works remain published on the Organisers’ websites for an indefinite period: for technical reasons it will not be possible to request the removal of a work after publication.

Final approval

The Call offers an exceptional opportunity for visibility and professional growth: joining the official exhibition programme of Trieste Photo Days with a curated presentation.

The ambition is to stage a standout exhibition at Magazzino 26 in Trieste’s Porto Vecchio, establishing it as both a highlight of the festival and a vibrant contribution to the city’s artistic and cultural scene. An initiative made possible thanks to the support of institutions that have been backing the festival’s promoting associations for years.

The jury will select the most deserving photographs, assessing their ability to interpret the themes of the call and the depth of their vision of a changing climate.
