TRAVEL
Join the new free Open Call dedicated to travel photography and capture stories, spaces, and faces from every corner of the world through your lens!
TRAVEL is a visual celebration of contemporary travel photography: an invitation to go beyond borders, to be surprised by places, people, and cultures, and to depict the richness of our planet through photography. Exhibit Around APS and dotART, the associations behind the international photography festival Trieste Photo Days, invite photographers from around the world to take part in this exciting Open Call.
The project
TRAVEL is a visual narrative spanning cultures, landscapes, and faces from every corner of the world; an invitation to explore the beauty of our planet’s diversity.
We are proud to present this photographic and editorial project, which will culminate in a collective exhibition featuring a selection of the best submitted works. The exhibition will be held in Trieste at Sala Veruda and will open during the 13th edition of Trieste Photo Days 2026.
In addition, a prestigious photographic volume will be produced, featuring a curated selection of the exhibited images alongside works by the special guest, officially presented during the festival.
The theme
TRAVEL does not only document the act of moving from one place to another. We are looking for images that portray travel as experience, encounter, and transformation. We want stories that reveal what travel brings with it: discoveries, new perspectives, and relationships.
Travel can take the form of physical journeys to distant lands, bustling cities, or unexplored territories. But travel is also about encounters: the faces and people met along the way, their expressions and the stories that reveal the human side of movement. Finally, travel can be an inner and conceptual journey: narratives that interpret research, change, anticipation, or discovery. Personal and intimate experiences that evoke universal emotions, from the wonder of discovery to the joy of reconnecting with oneself and others.
Who is it for?
The Open Call is open to photographers worldwide who wish to submit series, projects, or single images on the theme of travel in all its dimensions: movement, encounters, landscapes, and inner exploration.
Selected photographers will have the opportunity not only to be part of a major international collective exhibition but also to be published in a prestigious photographic volume dedicated to the project.
All of this takes place within the context of Trieste Photo Days 2026, in the presence of special guests and authors from around the world.
The photos
Each photographer can explore the theme of travel through the photographic genre they feel closest to: reportage, portrait, landscape, documentary photography, street photography, creative photography, or fine-art.
Photographs can explore travel in all its forms: physical and geographical journeys, encounters and faces along the way, natural and urban landscapes, as well as inner and emotional paths that tell stories of research, discovery, and personal transformation.
Are you ready to capture the essence of travel and share your vision of movement, the spaces crossed, and the stories encountered along the way? Join us in this extraordinary visual journey!
