Join Mythography 5: Open Call now open for the fifth photographic volume of the series

17 January 2025

The registrations are officially open for Mythography Vol. V, the fifth edition of the editorial series curated by Exhibit Around APS and dotART, in collaboration with Professor Enrico Medda, a professor of Greek literature at the University of Pisa.

This edition invites photographers from around the world to participate in the Open Call, submitting works inspired by ancient mythology, interpreted through contemporary photography.

The Mythography series draws inspiration from the Greco-Roman pantheon, offering participants the opportunity to present original and contemporary readings of timeless myths.

Get inspired by the Deities

For Mythography Vol. V, the goddesses inspire themes rich in symbolism and storytelling, each opening up different creative possibilities for photographers:

  • Juno (Hera), goddess of marriage, symbolizes union and bond, inspiring wedding photography and human relationships. She invites capturing intimate moments that reflect the depth of personal connections.
  • Venus (Aphrodite), goddess of love and beauty, embodies desire, passion, and creativity, offering cues for fashion photography, portraiture, love, and queer themes. Venus encourages exploring personal expression with creativity.
  • Vesta (Hestia), goddess of the hearth, represents home and domestic life, inspiring family photography. Her symbolism evokes belonging, warmth, and stability, celebrating the home as a place of refuge.

Publication in a photographic volume

The selected works will be included in the new Mythography Vol. V photographic volume, curated by Professor Enrico Medda. The book will be published in a limited edition and available for purchase online, allowing photographers to be part of an editorial collection with international reach.

Main prizes for Best Authors

In addition to publication, the Best Authors of the Call will have the opportunity to win exclusive prizes, including:

  • Customized and certified STELE and SIGILLI works by artist and sculptor Giorgio Celiberti
  • Inclusion in a curated exhibition within the Trieste Photo Days exhibition circuit (October 24-26, 2025)

Exhibition at Trieste Photo Days 2025

A curated exhibition featuring works from the Best Author, Honorable Mentions, and the best photographers of the Open Call will be held at one of Trieste’s most historically significant locations, situated in the heart of the city, at no cost to the selected photographers. This offers them a prestigious platform for international recognition and visibility.
