The words of Giuseppe Ungaretti come to life through the project “Beyond Words”, an initiative dedicated exclusively to poetry, exploring the places and emotions that shaped the work of the soldier-poet.
Launched by dotART and Exhibit Around APS, this open call invites poets from around the world to contribute compositions inspired by Ungaretti’s themes – memory, silence, inner landscapes – creating a dialogue between past and present. The selected poems will be exhibited at Trieste Photo Days 2025 and published in a dedicated volume, enriched by a photographic project retracing the locations experienced by Ungaretti during the Great War.

Additionally, the contest offers winners the opportunity to receive prestigious awards, including an artist’s seal created by Maestro Giorgio Celiberti.
 
“Beyond Words” is part of the GO! 2025 program, celebrating Nova Gorica and Gorizia as the European Capital of Culture, emphasizing the universal value of Ungaretti’s poetry in fostering dialogue, peace, and unity.
