Torviscosa located in the center of Lower Friuli, represents one of the twelve foundation cities created in Italy.
It took on its current name in 1937, composed partly of the ancient name “Torre Zuina” and partly derived from Snia Viscosa. The country was built in 1938 by the will of the entrepreneur and president Franco Marinotti and it was the first major industrial initiative in a rather depressed area at the time, whose people were forced to emigrate. Vast areas were reclaimed, soft cane was cultivated for the production of cellulose, the industrial plant was built, and then an urban development continued capable of hosting managers, technicians and workers, homes for employees and workers, social structures, fields sports and anything else necessary to make it livable and autonomous.
Founded city characterized by imposing regime architectural structures, with essential and rational elements, even today it is a lively and dynamic town, embellished by a consolidated and expanded industrial complex with the entry of modern pharmaceutical and energy companies, projected towards a new chemistry and increasingly respectful of the environment.
CID Centre of Information and Documentation, created in the years 1960-62 by Franco Marinotti, its function was to present the most important Italian company in the textile sector. Large exhibition space dedicated to the fascinating history of Torviscosa, beautiful dioramas and excellent captions, for an exhibition that is divided into several floors. Inside are historical and photographic archives, models, ceramic collections, paintings by the Marinotti family and the important structure 708 by Enzo Mari. The model is certainly not to be missed, which highlights the different construction phases of the factory and the city.
