We are thrilled to announce that Paul Gadd will be the Special Guest Author for our upcoming project, “Collectible Shots.” This unique photo call invites photographers to submit their portfolios for a chance to have their work printed as fine art and exhibited at the prestigious Spazio Trart gallery in Trieste. The winner’s portfolio will be showcased alongside the exceptional works of Paul Gadd, offering an unparalleled opportunity for artistic exposure and recognition.
The portfolios submitted for the open call will be carefully reviewed by a distinguished jury, which includes our special guest artist Paul Gadd, along with curators Federica Luser and Giacomo Frullani. Together, they will select participants who exhibit strong artistic maturity and a masterful use of the photographic medium to convey their ideas and emotions.
In addition to the main winner, five honorable mentions will be selected. These portfolios, along with the winner’s, will be featured in the project’s photographic book, enriched by the works of Paul Gadd.
The winning photographer will enjoy a personal exhibition at Spazio Trart from October 24 to November 14, 2024. This exclusive opportunity not only includes exhibiting their own works alongside those of Paul Gadd but also offers a chance to meet the renowned artist in person and engage in discussions about photography.
We eagerly anticipate the creativity and talent that will emerge from this call and look forward to celebrating the artistry of our participants.
British artist and photographer
Paul Gadd is a talented British artist and photographer who has found his passion in the art of photography. His interest in photography began during his studies at the Epsom School of Art, where he discovered his talent and creativity. He then decided to pursue his master’s degree in “Photography in the Arts” from Swansea Metropolitan University, which helped him further refine his skills.
In 2011, Paul opened The Print Room, a studio and gallery in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where he works and teaches photography. He also curated and followed exhibitions of emerging photographers, helping them find their professional path. In 2020, Paul moved to Seoul, and in 2023 he opened The Print Room, a new space to continue his artistic work and mentor new photographers.
Paul’s works are created through a meticulous process that involves shooting on film, followed by different mechanical interventions such as scratches. The prints obtained are then further modified by the artist using various techniques, including the ancient encaustic technique. These interventions result in unique pieces that tell his story, ranging from humor to dark atmospheres that are appreciated by collectors and galleries worldwide.
