PHOTOGRAPHY PROJECTS

The photographic and editorial series Mythography, created by Exhibit Around and curated by Professor Enrico Medda, returns with its sixth volume dedicated to Jupiter (Zeus) and Bacchus (Dionysus).

These two deities, so different yet complementary, offer photographers an extraordinarily rich narrative field: from the rule of reason to the loss of control, from the ordering lightning bolt to the liberating ritual. Mythography VI invites authors to interpret these gods through a contemporary visual language, bringing ancient myths into our present with new aesthetics, symbols, and perspectives.

Trieste Photo Days, in collaboration with the Order of Friars Minor – OFM Fraternitas Foundation, the Faculty of Philosophy of the Pontifical Antonianum University, and GPIC Friars Minor of Italy and Albania, is pleased to present the prestigious photographic Open Call inspired by the Canticle of the Creatures of St. Francis of Assisi.
On the occasion of the VIII Centenary of the composition of the Canticle of the Creatures, photographers from all over the world are invited to tell, through their images, the beauty and virtues of creation as well as the wounds caused by human influence.
The Open Call is open to all, with free registration and no cost for inclusion in the exhibition or the photographic volume if selected.

Exhibit Around invites photographers from around the world to participate in the "India" photography open call. This project aims to celebrate the diverse culture, landscapes, and people of India through the lens of photographers. We are looking for powerful visual stories that capture the essence of India’s rich history, traditions, and the vibrant energy that defines the country. The submission can include portraits, landscapes, street photography, or any form of imagery that reflects the spirit of India. Photographers are encouraged to submit works that showcase India’s diversity, from its rural villages to its bustling cities, from spiritual practices to the daily lives of its people. We seek works that explore the beauty, struggles, and joys of Indian life, highlighting the country’s complexities and the stories within. This is an opportunity for photographers to share their vision of India with a global audience and be part of a prestigious international exhibition.

The cultural association dotART, in collaboration with Exhibit Around APS, presents "Beyond Words - Poetic and Photographic exploration into the soul of Giuseppe Ungaretti," a project that honors Italian poet Giuseppe Ungaretti and his connection to Friuli Venezia Giulia. The region, which deeply influenced Ungaretti’s works during his time there in World War I, is explored through a mix of contemporary photography and poetry, reflecting on the poet's transformative ability to turn personal experiences into profound words. The project includes a poetry contest inspired by Ungaretti’s themes, photography outings to sites linked to his life, and workshops with renowned photographer Gianpaolo Arena. The culmination will be a publication, an exhibition at Trieste Photo Days 2025, and a documentary, all aimed at celebrating Ungaretti’s legacy and the historical significance of the region. "BEYOND WORDS" is part of the GO! 2025 program, recognizing Nova Gorica and Gorizia as European Capitals of Culture.

URBAN ANIMALS is a photographic project that aims to explore the delicate balance between wildlife and urban spaces through the lenses of modern photographers. This initiative focuses on three key aspects—wild creatures, domestic companions, and adaptive species—and their remarkable presence in our metropolitan environments. The project celebrates urban wildlife in its broadest interpretation: from its manifestation in street photography and documentary to its expression in contemporary art. It invites a fresh perspective on the coexistence between humans and animals, reinterpreted through the eyes of photographers from around the globe. With the special participation of international photographers and creative visionaries, the exhibition bridges the gap between nature and urban development, connecting wildlife and city life through compelling visual narratives.

Mythography Vol. V is a photographic project that aims to explore the timeless and universal themes of mythology through the lenses of modern photographers. This edition focuses on three iconic Roman goddesses—Juno, Venus, and Vesta—and their enduring influence on art, culture, and storytelling. The project celebrates mythology in its broadest interpretation: from its representation in classical art and literature to its echoes in contemporary life. It invites a fresh perspective on ancient archetypes, reinterpreted through the eyes of photographers from around the globe. With the special participation of international photographers and creative visionaries, the exhibition bridges the gap between myth and the modern world, connecting the past and present through compelling visual narratives.

PLAY! - Let the Game Begin is a photographic project that aims to explore the wonderful and unique world of sport. A photographic celebration of a dimension that profoundly influences our lives, understanding the term "sport" in its broadest declination: from a meeting between fans, to a game with friends, a school dance recital up to competitive sporting events and the world of high-level sport. With the special participation of professional sports photographer Adam Pretty, 11-time photographer of the Olympics and many other top-level sporting events.

Collectible Shots is a photographic project that aims to explore the fascinating and unique world of fine art photography. A visual celebration of a creative language expressed through works of authorship, ranging from intimate, personal images to pieces that capture the sublime and innovative. With the goal of valuing and promoting photographic talents, the project provides an extraordinary opportunity to enter the fine art photography market, culminating in an exclusive exhibition. With the special participation of internationally renowned artist and photographer Paul Gadd, known for his unique works that blend photographic and painterly techniques, the initiative seeks to celebrate the evocative power of photography in all its forms.

The photographic project explores "twin cities", separate entities that exhibit incredible similarities or places once united and later divided. A photographic journey through diversity, in cities marked by the coexistence of multiple cultures, ethnicities, and traditions, or that still show clear traces of their political past in contrast with today's reality.
La Città Doppia starts with the nearby realities of Gorizia (Italy) and Nova-Gorica (Slovenia), cities divided by a border but socially and historically united, and then expands globally, exploring the diversity of places and cities with countless facets.

Photographic project on "company towns", the so-called factory-cities, born under the pressure of industrial development. The photographic testimony of an urban phenomenon which has had important historical, social, economic and cultural implications. Taking inspiration from the workers' village of Panzano and the industrial city of Torviscosa, two company towns in Friuli Venezia Giulia (Italy), Exhibit Around explores the phenomenon on a larger scale thanks to the participation of photographers from all over the globe. Photographic and editorial project on the world of wine. A journey through viticulture, wine culture and the world's food and wine heritage. A visual testimony of how the passion for wine has resisted the challenges of time, exploring it in all its forms. With the participation of the great professional photographer Lorenzo Zoppolato, multiple world award winner with the title of "Emeritus of Italian Photography".

The Mythography series of photographic volumes returns with its fourth volume. Edited by Professor Enrico Medda, Mythography 4 will be a third volume inspired by the deities of the Greek-Latin pantheon Vulcan and Uranus. A project focused on the themes represented by the two deities. Vulcan, god of fire and metallurgy, symbolizes work creativity, craftsmanship, technology, deserts, volcanoes, metalworking, architecture and geometries. Uranus, god of the sky and husband of Gaia (goddess of the Earth), will represent the theme of the sky, panoramas, skylines and aerial photography (drone).

PixAround is a photographic project focused on the regional territory. A project structured in group photographic outings and in a contest between the photographic circles of the region. The photos collected will give life to exhibitions and photographic exhibitions within the Trieste Photo Days international photography festival and to various exhibitions on the regional territory within the Photo Days Tour.

71% represents the percentage of the earth's surface occupied by water, the essential element for life to which this photographic and editorial project aims to pay homage. 71% - The State of Water is the photographic celebration of water, the common element of all life forms on earth. Social and environmental issues are also taken into consideration such as drought, climate change, floods and all those variations of water that have an impact on life in general. With the participation of the Dutch photographer Kadir van Lohuizen, member of NOOR Images.

Trieste Audace is a homage to the city of Trieste that Exhibit Around aims to celebrate with a new photographic and editorial project. The project will be presented during the important international festival dedicated to photography that Trieste has hosted for the past 10 years, the Trieste Photo Days. The city of great literary names, of the Bora and of historic cafés, is defined as "bold" because it is a city that dares, puts itself game, which keeps up with the times without forgetting its origins. A city where sea and mountains come together in an area rich in history and gastronomic culture, symbol of Central European culture. A city with a glorious past that looks to the future, as does its large square that overlooks the sea.

Vajont Photo Days is a dialogue between photography, historical memory, dissemination and enhancement of the territory. An exciting journey through time, starting from "before the tragedy" up to the present day, sixty years after the dramatic event of the Vajont. An in-depth view of the territory affected by the disaster, exploring the history, the culture, the daily life of the people who live it and their memory.

The series of photographic volumes Mythography is back with its third volume. Edited by Professor Enrico Medda, Mythography 3 will be a third volume inspired by the deities of the Greek-Latin pantheon Diana, Minerva and Ceres. A project focused on the themes represented by the three deities: Diana, goddess of the hunt, the moon and the forest; Minerva, the warrior goddess and patroness of intelligence and the arts and Ceres, goddess of fertility and agriculture. WOW was presented in the international setting of the Trieste Photo Days festival in the presence of Susan Meiselas, an American documentary filmmaker and one of the most influential photographers in the world. For the occasion, conferences and meetings dedicated to the themes of the project will be organised. The best photos have been included in the dedicated photographic book together with those of Susan Meiselas and exhibited in two group exhibitions.

For this second edition of Mythography, with great honour, Nino Migliori will be the special guest of the book and the exhibition. Mythography vol. II will be presented within the Trieste Photo Days international photography festival with a live conference with Nino Migliori and the curator Enrico Medda, professor of Greek literature at the University of Pisa.
